Short answer

A GoHighLevel AI voice agent, which HighLevel calls Voice AI, answers and places phone calls for you inside HighLevel: it qualifies callers, books them onto your calendar, updates the contact and hands hot calls to a person. On pay-per-use it costs $0.06 a minute with the cheapest voice, plus the AI model's tokens and phone time.

The flat option is AI Employee Unlimited at $97 a month per sub-account, which covers Voice AI minutes under a fair-use policy. Phone charges sit on top of every plan. Every price below comes from HighLevel's AI product pricing article and help center, checked October 23, 2026.

GoHighLevel Voice AI at a glance Price
Voice engine (HighLevel's fee) $0.045/min
Voice (text-to-speech) $0.015 to $0.17/min
AI model Tokens, $0.05 to $3.00 per million
Phone, US $0.01165/min in, $0.0166/min out, $1.15/mo per number
AI Employee Growth $50/mo per sub-account, 100 minutes
AI Employee Unlimited $97/mo per sub-account, fair use, phone extra

What is GoHighLevel Voice AI?

GoHighLevel Voice AI is HighLevel's built-in AI phone agent. It answers inbound calls around the clock, calls contacts from your workflows and talks to website visitors through a voice widget. Per HighLevel's Voice AI overview, it only works on LC Phone or Twilio numbers, and you can run several agents, each with its own number and script.

We ran sales teams on GoHighLevel for five or six years. Its strength has always been that everything lives in one account, and Voice AI follows that rule: the agent reads and writes the same contacts, calendars and pipelines your team already uses. For the wider set of HighLevel AI tools, including Conversation AI and the AI Employee plans, see our GoHighLevel AI guide. If you want the basics of how any voice agent turns speech into a reply, start with what an AI voice agent is.

What can a GoHighLevel AI voice agent do?

A GoHighLevel AI voice agent can book appointments, transfer callers to a person, update contact fields, fire workflows and call outside systems through webhooks, all during a live call. After the call it can send a follow-up text or email, create or move an opportunity and assign a task.

Action What it does Limit worth knowing
Book appointment Offers times and books on your calendar Single or multiple calendars; Services can't be booked
Call transfer Sends the caller to a person's phone number You set the conditions
Agent transfer Hands the call to another AI agent Up to 3 destination agents
Custom action Calls an outside API mid-call POST requests only
Update contact, run workflow Writes to the CRM during the call None published
Knowledge base Answers questions about hours, services, policies None published

The booking action comes from HighLevel's appointment booking article, which also notes that Services calendars aren't supported yet. Custom actions only send POST webhooks, per the custom actions guide, so anything fancier needs a developer. Agent transfer only moves a call between AI agents; reaching a human uses the separate call transfer action.

Every call lands in the Voice AI call logs with the transcript, the recording if you turned recording on, the actions that fired and the latency. That last one matters. Read the logs for your first fifty calls before you trust the agent with your main line.

GoHighLevel outbound voice AI

GoHighLevel outbound voice AI places calls from a workflow, triggered by a form, tag, appointment or pipeline change. Each sub-account can make up to 10 AI calls a minute and 5,000 a day, only between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the contact's time zone, and the same number at most once a day and 14 times in 14 days, per HighLevel's outbound calling article.

The same article says Voice AI "does not perform platform-level contact consent validation" before it dials. The FCC ruled in 2024 that AI-generated voices count as an artificial voice under the TCPA (FCC 24-17), so AI sales calls need prior express written consent. This isn't legal advice. Our TCPA rules for sales calls and AI cold calling guides cover the rest.

GoHighLevel voice AI pricing

GoHighLevel voice AI pricing on pay-per-use is $0.045 a minute for HighLevel's voice engine, plus $0.015 to $0.17 a minute for the voice, plus the AI model's tokens, plus phone charges. With the cheapest voice that's $0.06 a minute before tokens and phone. HighLevel's own example: a 10-minute call on OpenAI's voice is $0.60 before tokens and phone.

HighLevel's Voice AI rate tables: voice engine $0.045 a minute from May 20, 2026, and text-to-speech at $0.015 a minute for OpenAI and Cartesia, $0.035 for ElevenLabs V2.5 and $0.170 for ElevenLabs V3

Source: HighLevel AI product pricing article, October 23, 2026.

Voice option Per minute, before tokens and phone
OpenAI or Cartesia voice $0.060
ElevenLabs V2.5 $0.080
ElevenLabs V3 $0.215
Gemini live speech-to-speech $0.10, all-in
OpenAI realtime speech-to-speech $0.20, all-in

Tokens depend on the model you pick: GPT-5 Mini is $0.25 per million tokens, GPT-5 is $1.25 and Claude 4.5 Sonnet is $3.00. HighLevel doesn't publish a per-minute token estimate, so watch the first month's usage report. Long prompts and long calls cost more.

Phone time comes from HighLevel's phone system pricing guide: $0.01165 a minute inbound, $0.0166 outbound, $1.15 a month per local number, and $0.0025 a minute more if you record. Partial minutes round up, so a 61-second call bills as two phone minutes.

Stacked bar chart of one inbound GoHighLevel Voice AI minute before tokens: $0.072 with OpenAI or Cartesia voice, $0.092 with ElevenLabs V2.5 and $0.227 with ElevenLabs V3, each made of the $0.045 voice engine fee, the voice rate and $0.01165 of phone time

On the cheapest voice, HighLevel's engine fee is more than 60% of what a minute costs before tokens. That fee is the rent. The voice and the phone line are the parts any voice agent has to pay for.

HighLevel Voice AI on Growth and Unlimited

HighLevel Voice AI is included in both AI Employee plans, billed per sub-account. Growth ($50 a month) includes 100 Voice AI minutes, shared across inbound, outbound and widget calls, then bills pay-per-use rates. Unlimited ($97 a month) covers all three under a fair-use policy that has no published numbers.

Phone charges stay separate on both. HighLevel's AI Employee guide says phone usage "remains separately billable even when Voice AI is included in Unlimited." So a three-location business with three sub-accounts pays $291 a month for Unlimited before a single phone minute.

GHL voice AI cost per month

GHL voice AI costs about $37 a month for a light after-hours line on pay-per-use, and about $127 a month for a busy front desk on Unlimited, once phone time and one number are counted. Two worked months for one sub-account, inbound calls, using HighLevel's published rates:

One month Pay-per-use Growth ($50) Unlimited ($97)
After-hours line: 500 min, OpenAI voice $36.98 + tokens $80.98 + tokens $103.98
Front desk: 2,500 min, ElevenLabs V2.5 $230.28 + tokens $272.28 + tokens $127.28
Grouped bar chart of one GoHighLevel Voice AI month by plan: after-hours line at 500 minutes costs $36.98 plus tokens on pay-per-use, $80.98 plus tokens on Growth and $103.98 on Unlimited; front desk at 2,500 minutes costs $230.28 plus tokens, $272.28 plus tokens and $127.28
Two worked months for one sub-account, inbound, with one number and phone time included. Source: HighLevel published rates, checked October 23, 2026.

Each total includes $1.15 for the number and inbound phone time ($5.83 for 500 minutes, $29.13 for 2,500). The line is simple: under about 1,600 minutes a month on the cheapest voice, stay on pay-per-use. Above it, Unlimited wins, and it wins sooner with a pricier voice.

Buying through an agency changes the math. Agencies on HighLevel's $497 plan can resell AI Employee at "a client-facing price you configure" and charge "a multiplier or markup" on AI usage, and HighLevel publishes no cap. If your agency bills AI usage at twice cost, the after-hours line's $30 of AI becomes $60. Ask for the multiplier in writing. The rest of the GoHighLevel bill is in our GoHighLevel pricing breakdown.

Go High Level AI voice agent vs Vapi, Retell and Bland

The Go High Level AI voice agent costs about the same per minute as the dedicated voice platforms. What you're choosing is convenience inside GoHighLevel against control over the agent. Each price below is from the vendor's own pricing page, checked October 23, 2026.

Platform Platform fee Published per-minute price Plan fee
GoHighLevel Voice AI $0.045/min $0.06 + tokens + phone $0, or $50/$97 AI plans
Retell AI $0.055/min $0.07 to $0.31 None
Vapi $0.05/min About $0.08 to $0.13 (its estimate at 1,000 min) $0 to start; Pro $999 minimum
Bland AI Built in $0.14, or $0.12 on Build $0, or $299/mo
Synthflow Not published Not published Enterprise from $30,000/yr

GoHighLevel's agent wins if your contacts, calendars and pipeline already live there. Nothing to connect, nothing to sync, and the call lands on the contact record. The dedicated platforms win on control: dozens of models and voices, published concurrency (Retell includes 20 concurrent calls; Vapi's Core plan includes 10), per-second billing on Retell, and an agent you can point at a different CRM later. Retell and Synthflow both list a GoHighLevel integration. More detail in our Vapi alternatives, Retell AI pricing and Bland AI pricing guides.

What happens to HighLevel voice AI if you cancel?

If you cancel HighLevel, your Voice AI agents, call logs and the rest of the account are kept for 90 days, then permanently deleted with no backups, and your phone numbers are deleted after 14 days. Those rules come from HighLevel's cancellation article.

You can take some of it with you. HighLevel's Voice AI public APIs return call logs with transcripts "when available", and its number migration guide moves LC Phone numbers to your own Twilio account through a support ticket. Do both before you cancel. What doesn't leave is the agent itself: the prompts, actions and call flows you or your agency built live inside HighLevel, and the help center documents no way to export them.

That's the trade with any rented platform. However much you pay HighLevel, or an agency to build the agent, it never becomes yours. Stop paying and the setup stops with it.

Build your own AI voice agent

An AI voice agent you own runs on your own hosting, and you pay the phone line and the AI model directly, at cost, with no per-minute platform fee on top. Every voice agent still rents a phone carrier and an AI model. What you own is everything above them: the conversation logic, the scripts, the calendar and CRM hookups, and the call data.

The raw parts are cheap. Vapi's own estimator lists speech-to-text at about a cent a minute, the AI model from under a cent to about 4.5 cents and the voice at 1.5 to 2.4 cents. Twilio charges $0.0085 a minute inbound and $0.0140 outbound in the US. HighLevel's $0.045 engine fee and the dedicated platforms' $0.05 to $0.055 are the layer you'd stop paying, for as long as you take calls.

Renting is the better call for plenty of businesses. If your agent handles a few hundred minutes a month, or your whole GoHighLevel bill is under $1,000 a month and fits how you sell, keep it and turn Voice AI on. Owning pays off when the agent takes real volume and needs to work across a stack that already costs a few thousand a month. It also helps when the agent has to see data that lives outside GoHighLevel.

What an owned build costs: typically less than you spend today, paid monthly, and the build payments have an end date. You keep the code, the data and the IP, with no seat fees. Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI voice cost?

On GoHighLevel, an AI voice minute costs $0.06 on pay-per-use with the cheapest voice, plus model tokens and about 1.2 to 1.7 cents of phone time. Dedicated platforms publish similar ranges: Retell AI $0.07 to $0.31 a minute and Bland AI $0.12 to $0.14.

Does GoHighLevel have an AI voice agent?

Yes. GoHighLevel Voice AI is built into every HighLevel account. It answers inbound calls, places outbound calls from workflows, books appointments on HighLevel calendars, updates contacts and can transfer callers to a person. It runs on LC Phone or Twilio numbers.

Is GoHighLevel Voice AI included in the Unlimited plan?

AI Employee Unlimited ($97 a month per sub-account) covers Voice AI inbound, outbound and widget minutes under a fair-use policy. Phone charges are still billed separately on every plan, including Unlimited.

Can GoHighLevel Voice AI make outbound calls?

Yes, from a workflow action. Each sub-account can place up to 10 AI calls a minute and 5,000 a day, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the contact's time zone. HighLevel doesn't check consent before those calls, so that's on you.

Is there a better alternative to GoHighLevel for voice AI?

If you live in GoHighLevel, its own Voice AI is the easiest choice. Vapi, Retell AI and Bland AI give more control over models, voices and call handling at similar per-minute prices. Teams with real call volume can also own an agent and pay only hosting plus phone and AI minutes at cost.
